OUR STORY

A Real Journey, Not a Perfect One

Moving Countries Reshapes
More Than
Geography

We moved to Canada in 2022, carrying excitement, expectations, and quiet pressure.

Like many who start over in a new country, we were learning not just how to live in a new place, but how to recalibrate our sense of self, work, and belonging.

We are Aishwarya Ravishankar and Sairam Jayaraman. Our background spans over a decade in media and storytelling, including our work with BBC News. That experience shaped how we observe, listen, and tell stories, especially those that are lived quietly and rarely documented.

After moving to Canada, we began sharing our experiences through videos, conversations, and on the ground stories in Tamil. What started as content creation gradually became something more. Our work began resonating with students, professionals, families, and first time migrants who were looking for honest perspectives on life in Canada and the United States.

Over time, Canada Tamil Couple grew into a space where stories were not just consumed, but recognised and shared. A space built on lived experience, clarity, and respect for the complexity of migration.

Why We Document Real Experiences

Much of what we see online about migration focuses on outcomes like jobs, timelines, and milestones. What often goes missing is the in between. The everyday adjustments, uncertainties, and quiet realities that shape life after a move.

We document real experiences because migration decisions go beyond paperwork. They affect identity, confidence, relationships, and a sense of belonging. By sharing lived stories, we aim to add context, nuance, and honesty to conversations that are often reduced to results. This work exists so people can reflect, relate, and think more clearly before and after major life decisions.

The principles Behind This Platform

Canada Tamil Couple is not a consultancy or advisory service. Our work is rooted in storytelling, reflection, and careful documentation.

We believe people make better decisions when they have access to honest context, not pressure or promises. That principle guides everything we publish, every conversation we host, and every collaboration we take on.
